Comprehensive Program
“So where do we go from here?” This program can be thought of as a continuation of the “Getting Started” program. We get into functional lab testing, specific therapeutic supplements and refinement of the diet. We look into a variety issues common to many individuals on the autism spectrum.
All of your concerns will be addressed. I am also available to work with your child’s physicians and therapists, including occupational/feeding therapists and behaviorists, on an as needed basis.
The objective of this program is to enable your child to advance on the road toward recovery and to achieve their highest developmental potential. While complete recovery is not always achievable, it is possible. However, I do not promise, nor should you expect, that your child will be “cured” of autism. Every child is unique, with unique potentials. What I can promise you is this – I will do my best to assist in this endeavor. This program is open-ended. You can expect at least three to six months, but we can continue for as long as we see continued progress for your child.
Alternatively, you may wish to continue consultations on an “as needed” basis, such as in the next service program. For example, if you feel your child’s progress has reached a plateau and you wish to advance further, we could do additional, or repeat, lab testing and adjust their supplements or additional dietary restrictions accordingly. Or you may see signs of regression which may suggest the need for a more focused approach.
Functional lab testing is a powerful means to pinpoint the underlying genetic, metabolic, physiological and other causes of your child’s autistic symptoms. The results of these labs are used to address issues which can be mitigated through specific supplementation protocols and dietary or life-style modification.
Specific issues addressed include, but are not limited to:
- Gut dysbiosis (microbiome imbalance)
- “Leaky gut” syndrome (increased intestinal permeability)
- Various GI issues (constipation/diarrhea; IBS, etc.)
- Yeast overgrowth
- Mycotoxin exposure
- Sleep issues
- Nutrient deficiencies
- Detox pathway impairment
- Methylation/transsulfuration pathways
- Mitochondrial dysfunction
- Immune system impairment or autoimmune issues
- Various behavioral symptoms
- Supplement/medication interactions
- Inadequate weight gain / failure to thrive
